This journey has taken over 2.5 years—a process that involves far more than just an idea. From developing the initial concept to building prototypes, installing test systems, monitoring performance, refining designs, sourcing parts, and setting up production, every step has been a meticulous effort. We've tested, improved, and tested again.
Now, with nearly 100 Zoog Zapper systems installed, I’ve been personally checking on their performance in real-world conditions. As I inspect drain pans and ensure everything is running smoothly, I’ll be asking for quick video reviews from users.
The Zoog Zapper is officially production-ready and performing exceptionally well. I’m proud to say I have many (many) happy customers!
Barbara has struggled with persistent AC drain clogs for years. Due to improper installation, her system lacks the necessary tilt (pitch), causing a significant amount of condensate to remain in the drain pan. This stagnant water creates the perfect breeding ground for Zoogloea bacteria, frequently clogging the pan and leading to water overflows onto her floor. I installed a Zoog Zapper system in June 2023. Since then, her system has remained clear, preventing clogs and overflows caused by Zoogloea bacterial buildup.
Shirley struggled with AC drain clogs for years. Her home has two AC systems, and despite having safety float switches, her upstairs unit overflowed multiple times, causing significant water damage.
When an AC system overflows without triggering the float switch, it typically means the drain pan inside the unit has clogged. Water then spills over the pan, seeps through the filter, and ends up on the floor. This is exactly why the Zoog Zapper is designed to sanitize the entire drain pan first—eliminating bacteria and buildup at the source—before also treating the full drain line.
Shirley’s home was one of my first test sites, and in June 2023, I installed a Zoog Zapper on both of her systems. Since then, her drain lines have stayed clear, and she no longer has to worry about unexpected overflows.
At 80 years old, Marty took on an impressive challenge—installing his own Zoog Zapper system in October 2023 at his home in Ft. Myers. His determination is even more remarkable when you see the video!
For years, Marty struggled with persistent drain clogs and found my website while searching for a solution. After reaching out, he was confident he could handle the installation himself, so I sent him a system and guided him through the process—without even having a manual at the time. Since then, I’ve visited Marty twice, and his system has been working flawlessly.
This video showcases the unmatched flexibility of the Zoog Zapper, as its pump successfully delivers sanitizer 28 feet up to his AC unit—mounted high in his garage ceiling and far from easy access. Since installing the system, Marty hasn’t had a single clog.
This type of extended installation is also ideal for AC units located in attics, allowing for easy reservoir access and refilling from the floor below. No other system on the market offers this capability!
Alysha and her husband Chris first had a Zoog Zapper installed on July 14, 2023—my 9th test installation. Before that, their air conditioner drain line clogged frequently. From the day I installed the Zoog Zapper, they had zero clogs until February 2025, when their entire AC system needed replacement.
When their new Rheem system was installed, they removed the Zoog Zapper temporarily, expecting to reinstall it after the mandatory inspection. Unfortunately, the inspection process dragged on for five months. In the meantime, just two months after the new system was installed, their drain line clogged again. Chris cleared it with a vacuum, but two months later it clogged again.
On August 25, 2025, Alysha and Chris called me after the system finally passed inspection. When I arrived, I discovered the problem: the new system had been improperly plumbed with no trap and no vent at the air handler. This setup restricts condensate flow and dramatically increases the chance of clogs in both the drain pan and the line—exactly what happened here. You can see in the photo that I installed a proper trap and vent directly at the unit, right behind Alysha.
Unfortunately, this mistake is common. Too often, AC installers assume an underground drain line acts as a “natural trap” and skip installing the required trap and vent at the air handler—even though manufacturers place warning labels on the equipment clearly stating that a trap must be installed. The reality is, some techs don’t mind if your line clogs, since they make money coming back out to clear it.
Now that Alysha and Chris’s system has been properly plumbed, and with the Zoog Zapper once again automatically dispensing sanitizer into the drain pan every week, their system should stay clog-free—just as it did for nearly two years on their old system.
John owns a rental apartment in a 500-unit building in South Beach, Miami. Unlike a typical home AC system, the building uses a chiller system, where air is blown over a coil circulating chilled water. These systems only provide cool air and do not dehumidify, but they still generate condensate which drains into a common building drain line.
John's chiller clogged and overflowed so often that he had to get creative. He installed a third drain pan beneath the secondary pan and added a Ring water sensor. If water overflowed the main and secondary drain pans and reached the third pan, the sensor would alert him. Each time this happened, John had to rush down from Fort Lauderdale to unclog the system before the third pan overflowed.
John sent me this video while refilling the reservoir (less than $4 to refill!)
This system was installed January of 2024.
Bill’s AC drain line runs from inside his garage underground to the side of his house. Bill used to experience frequent clogs, but ever since installing the Zoog Zapper on August 10 of 2023, he hasn’t had a single issue through the past two summers.
With a service contract in place, his drain pan and drain lines have been consistently clear at every visit. Bill’s system was one of my early prototypes, and now I’m upgrading him to the latest version.
This is an actual clogged drain line showing what it takes sometimes to be able to clear a line. I am using the Patent-Pending "ZoogSnake" I invented which will be for sale soon. Only a snake can clear a drain line well.
