Refilling the Reservoir consists of filling the Reservoir with hot water, dropping in 50 Steramine tablets and then pressing the pushbutton on the pump two times. That's it.
The following information explains the full process:
Steramine is a widely used sanitizer available on Amazon, with prices for a single bottle typically ranging from $7 to $9. Each bottle contains approximately 150 tablets, and 50 tablets are used per refill.
There are multiple vendors selling Steramine and prices vary. Some vendors bundle the Steramine with test strips that are NOT needed (and cost more), so only locate and buy a bottle without the strips.

Although Steramine is generally a safe chemical, broken tablets may create dust particles that should not be inhaled. For your safety, please wear a mask and gloves when handling and counting the 50 Steramine tablets.
To count the tablets, you can use a paper towel as a clean surface. Simply pour the tablets onto the paper towel, and once finished, dispose of the paper towel.
Steramine must be dissolved in HOT water.
In some locations hot water is unavailable, so dissolving Steramine can be challenging. To address this issue, the Steramine tablets can be pre-dissolved in a gallon-sized bottle filled with hot water and then brought to the site.
Additionally, depending on the Reservoir's mounting position, and/or installation location, accessing and replacing the Reservoir may be difficult. A practical alternative for refilling the Reservoir involves again using a one-gallon bottle: fill the bottle with hot water and add the water to the reservoir.
It is sometimes easier to pour water from a bottle into the Reservoir than disconnect, remove, walk with, replace and re-connect the Reservoir...
Using a one-gallon bottle with a handle can simplify this process, particularly if your Zoog Zapper is installed in an attic.
If a one-gallon bottle is not available, refill the Reservoir manually by:
1) Remove the Quick-Disconnect fitting on top of the Reservoir by turning the fitting counter-clockwise.
2) Cover the fitting's hole with your finger to prevent Steramine from spilling out if the Reservoir sides are squeezed. Avoid squeezing the sides; handle the Reservoir primarily by the lid.
3) Once filled with hot water, return the Reservoir to the Reservoir Holder.
4) Reattach the Quick-Disconnect fitting, making sure the fitting is finger-tight. If the fitting is/becomes loose, air leaks can hinder Steramine pumping.
(For a demonstration re-connecting the Quick-Disconnect fitting, please watch the Quick Disconnect Fitting Installation video).
1) Add the 50 Steramine tablets into the Reservoir.
2) Press the pushbutton switch on the pump TWO times.
This will initiate a seven-minute reverse pump cycle to fully mix the Steramine. Air bubbles should be visible exiting the bottom of the suction tube. (If there are no bubbles, the Quick-Disconnect fitting is loose!) Following the mixing cycle, the pump will stop and then run forward to dispense two cups of the Steramine solution to flood the system (a good thing).
3) Once pumping is completed, you can "top off" the Reservoir by adding more water until the water level reaches the bottom of the lid flaps. This provides maximum volume of the Steramine.
That’s it! While this may seem like a lot of instructions, the process is straightforward overall.
